ABOUT US NSTI(W) TURA

NSTI(W), formerly RVTI (W) comes under Government of India, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Directorate General of Training (formerly Ministry of Labour & Employment, Directorate General of Employment & Training), Women’s Occupation. Women Occupation Training (WoT) separated under Directorate General of Training (formerly DGE&T) in the year 1976. The first institute under WoT started functioning were National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) for Women, at New Delhi, with 2 regional vocational training institutes called RVTI, at erstwhile Bombay and Bangalore. Today 19 NSTI(W)s and 14 NSTIs are functioning at various places in India. NSTI(W) and NSTIs are imparting vocational training as required by the local industry and also providing need based training to become self entrepreneur. NSTI(W)s are located at Tura, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Goa, Patiala, Noida, Agartala, Trichy, Allahabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Patna, Panipat, Bengaluru, Indore, Jammu, Shimla, Trivandrum and Vadodra. NSTIs are located at Mumbai, Kanpur, Haldwani, Dehradun, Jamshedpur, Ludhiana, Howrah, Hyderabad (Vidyanagar), Hyderabad (Ramabthapur), Jodhpur, Chennai, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar and Calicut.

History

The Directorate of Employment and Training (DGE&T), Ministry of Labour and Employment, launched the Women Vocational training programme in 1977 aimed at exclusively at women vocational training at regional level all over the country. NSTI FOR WOMEN, Tura, Meghalaya was established in 1987 and is presently running 5 CTS courses and 3 CITS courses

How to Reach

NSTI(W), Tura is 8 Kms from the main Tura town (Latitude: 25.519072N & Longitude: 90.180171E) and can be reached by local buses, taxi & auto. The landmark of the institute is Doordarshan TV Tower. From Guwahati (Assam), it is 254 Kms and connected by road (Bus or Taxi) & air (helicopter service) 3 days a week. 

Airport: The nearest Airport is the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport, Guwahati.

Train: The Nearest Train Station is in Mendi Pather, Meghalaya that is 89 Kms away from this Institute. Guwahati to Mendi Pather train Service is available. For the visitors from outside of North East, the convenient Stations are in Bongaigaon (Assam) & Paltan Bazar, Guwahati.

Road: Night Bus Service covering distance 254 Kms from ISBT, Guwahati to Tura is  available. Besides, regular taxi (Xylo) service from Guwahati to Tura is available in the morning & afternoon. Bus Service covering distance 164 Kms from Bongaigaon (Assam) to Tura is  available.
